Quintessential France

A partnership with the French federation of motor sports (FFSA). What more could we wish for? We obviously have plenty in common, starting with our love of motor sports and intricate mechanics.

« Founded in 1952 and currently chaired by Nicolas Deschaux, the FFSA comprises 20 regional committees for motor sports and 18 regional committees for go-karting, boasts 60,000 members and organises some 1,200 competitions every year. Under authorisation from the French Ministry of Sports, the FFSA acts as a public service and has its sights firmly set on the future.

Thanks to its partnership with BRM Chronographes, the famous French watchmaker, the federation receives technological support for the “paddle shift”, a steering wheel mounted gear change system that is fitted on all single-seaters in the French F4 cup, the leading competition for single-seaters organised by the Auto Sport Academy federal training centre. BRM supports the Auto Sport Academy by donating all the trophies presented on podiums as well as watches for the winners.

In 2014, BRM and the FFSA launched a limited edition of FFSA watches, with an exclusive exhibition at the Paris motor show. Find them on the BRM Chronographes website in the partners section. »

A fabulous fortnight

Discovering a new discipline

We were delighted to share our stand at the Paris motor show with the Lamera Cup team, who displayed this superb racing car sporting the BRM Chronographes logo.
It came just at the right time to introduce our visitors to this unique discipline.

« It all began around ten years ago. Wilfried and Frédéric, two motor sport enthusiasts founded a racing team called TTM COMPETITION.
At first TTM Competition offered driving courses and introductory lessons, organised seminars and entered its clients in various motor racing disciplines.
But the pair were not content to stop there.
In 2010, they shifted up a gear and launched their own sports car, the Lamera.
But that was just the first step, the ultimate goal was the Lamera Cup, which was founded in 2011, organised by TTM Competition.
And they were off! »

How is your season so far?

I’m pretty pleased with the first half of the season. I’m currently third in the championship, which was my goal. There’s quite a big difference between driving a 2.0 and a 3.5. I’m still learning new techniques and clocking up experience. My team are helping to bring out the best in me and I am sure we will get better and better as time goes on.



How do you find driving a 3.5L compared to a 2L?

To start with, the difference is over 300 horse power. The car has really efficient 3.5 carbon brakes which makes braking absolutely awesome. Coupled with the aerodynamics, it makes for an incredible experience. You take bends at higher speeds, so you need your car to be much more stable than in 2.0 to have confidence.

I believe this was the first time you drove in Monaco. What did you think of the race track?

It’s legendary. It’s challenging. But its magnificent. Just driving such a fast car through the streets gives an incredible adrenaline rush. All the bends on the circuit are amazing, but the ones between the Casino and the swimming pool are just incredible. I hope I get chance to drive in Monaco again. It’s the sort of circuit you can never get bored with.



Has being associated with a highly regarded brand changed your life?

Yes, of course, being part of Red Bull has changed my life. Even though I still haven’t achieved my ultimate goal, with their help, I have every chance. It’s also rewarding for me, it makes sense of the work I do every day to get closer to my target. When you see that hard work pays off, you’re even more motivated. They look after me really well, so I can be 100% concentrated on my performance. The programme has attracted more and more drivers to F1 and gives young drivers like Kvyat a chance to break through. That spurs me on even more to prove that I deserve to be part of all this.
